Klinsmann: USA were not superior to Guatemala

A landslide win was not enough to completely satisfy the 50-year-
old, who warned his team their performance had been insufficient

United States coach Jurgen Klinsmann was left disappointed with
aspects of his team's performance - despite a 4-0 thrashing of
Guatemala in a friendly on Friday.

A Carlos Castrillo own goal and efforts from Timmy Chandler,
Clint Dempsey – via the penalty spot – and Chris Wondolowski
saw USA bag their big win in their final warm-up prior to
the start of their Gold Cup campaign.

However, Klinsmann warned that the chances his men had given
away would have been punished by a better outfit, while lamenting
the lack of danger they created at the other end of the field.

"The performance? Not so nice," the German said. "I'm kind of
disappointed with a few things, such as our movement off the ball,
speed of play, urgency.

"Things we talked about before were not executed the way we
wanted them to be executed. We gave some chances away that you
can't afford to on an international level too easily.

"We didn't create enough. We have to talk through that - what's
coming up [the Gold Cup] is three-and-a-half weeks of a grind."

The United States will be seeking to defend the Gold Cup title they
won under Klinsmann in 2013 when they begin their campaign next
Tuesday.
