Mark Sampson's side take on Japan in the biggest match in their
history and a selection of male national team players have expressed
their support
A number of England stars have wished the women's side well
ahead of their World Cup semi-final clash with Japan.
Mark Sampson's side became only the third England team to reach
the semi-final of a World Cup when they defeated hosts Canada on
Sunday, and can make history if they emerge victorious in
Edmonton.
The England women's team have never reached a World Cup final,
and a number of male pros have come out in support of the
Lionesses ahead of the clash.
Along with Wayne Rooney, Jack Wilshere took to Twitter, writing:
"Good luck tonight ladies. Come on England!"
Gary Cahill echoed his rallying cry, the Chelsea defender posting:
"It's getting serious now! Good luck ladies, you can do it."
His defensive partners Phil Jones and Phil Jagielka also expressed
their support, with the Manchester United star summing up the mood
of many ebullient fans, writing:
"The England women are doing the
country proud!"
