Alex Sandro undergoes Juventus medical
The Serie A champions have announced that the Brazil
international has touched down in Turin for physical tests ahead of his
proposed transfer
Juventus have announced that Porto defender Alex Sandro has landed in Turin to undergo a medical ahead of his proposed move to the Serie A champions.General director Giuseppe Marotta announced on Wednesday that the Turin outfit were close to signing the 24-year-old and they are now on the brink of completing a deal.
Juventus were keen to add another left-back to their squad to challenge Patrice Evra for a starting berth and they see Alex Sandro as the ideal long-term replacement for the veteran Frenchman.
The Brazilian defender started his professional career with Atletico Paranaense and also wore the jersey of Santos before joining Porto in 2011.
He had since developed into a key player for the Portuguese giants, but a transfer became inevitable after he refused to sign an extension to his current contract, which expires next summer.
Atletico Madrid also showed an interest in signing Alex Sandro prior to Juve striking a deal.
The former Santos star becomes Juventus' seventh signing of the transfer window after the previous arrivals of Mario Mandzukic, Sami Khedira, Paulo Dybala, Simone Zaza, Neto and Guido Vadala.
