As efforts to ensure availability of petroleum products to Abuja residents intensifies, the National President of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN), Elder Chinedu Okoronkwo who led IPMAN monitoring team to major petroleum marketing destinations in Abuja at the weekend assured that “long queues will cease because IPMAN will sanction any marketer found wanting.”
“There is no need to panic, the scarcity is artificial; not real, and it is obvious that the scarcity is already ending,” he said, assuring that petroleum products will be available from now through December and into the coming year.
The monitoring team which consisted of committee heads and top executives of IPMAN checked the storage tanks at major petrol stations in Abuja to ascertain that the product was being sold. Some of the petrol stations visited include A.A Rano, Asokoro; A.Y. M Shafa, NIPCO Plc, Azma Oil and Gas, and A.A Butu among others.
While he disclosed that IPMAN will intensify its monitoring exercise in order to sustain the availability, Okoronkwo explained that it will continue to engage relevant stakeholders in the industry to ensure a permanent end to petroleum scarcity in Nigeria.
The Manager of A.A. Rano Petrol Station, Asokoro, Ibrahim Abdulsalam commended the monitoring efforts of IPMAN saying that it will help to ensure smooth running of business.
According to him, monitoring will ensure that products sent to stations reach their destinations and that they are further sold to end users without delay.
