Manchester rivals set to compete fo Jesus
Manchester United and Man City look set for a transfer battle over Brazilian starlet Gabriel Jesus. The teenage striker, who has shone for Palmeiras this year, has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs in recent months.
City firmed up their interest with a bid believed to be in the region of €32million for him this week, while Pep Guardiola even phoned Gabriel to discuss possible plans.
But Jose Mourinho and United are now also in the mix, say reports in Brazil.
According to Globo, the Red Devils have told Palmeiras that they are willing to pay €35million for the forward’s services.
Oddly, United are one of five European giants – along with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain – for whom Gabriel’s buyout clause is only €24million; for all other teams, City included, the figure is €40million.
But with their local rivals hovering with intent, United would appear willing to throw more money at the deal.
Witsel has two offers from England
Wantaway Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel has offers from both Italy and England, according to manager Mircea Lucescu.“He has spoken with the club and he has asked to leave,” said Lucescu.
“He has two offers from Italy and two from England.
“The club placed a high valuation on him because he is an important player, one of international level.
“I know that he has been offered a contract renewal, but it won’t be easy. He’s had important proposals for the last two years, the transfer market is long and has its own logic.
“We are talking about a player who can do well in many teams.”

Man City and Everton re-open Stones talks
Manchester City are close to resolving the John Stones saga, after resurrecting collapsed talks with Everton .And the Etihad club are edging ever closer to meeting the Blues’ asking price for theEngland defender, after a positive break-through in negotiations overnight.
The deal had stalled with Goodison’s new owner Farhad Moshiri telling the Manchester club he wouldn’t even come to the table until the bidding had got past £50m.
And with City reluctant to go beyond the £40m that Chelsea offered for Stones last summer, it looked as though the player may face another crushing transfer window, after again telling Everton he wanted to leave.
But talks have been revived in the past 48 hours and it seems there is now a real prospect of a deal being struck, with City prepared to go beyond the £50m barrier to ensure they get the centre half in early.
