– Court sacks PDP legislators in Anambra state
– New senators emerge
The election of two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators in Anambra state, Stella Oduah and Andy Uba, has been nullified by the Supreme Court.
They were sacked by the court in a ruling delivered today, January 29, Channels TV reports.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared them winners after the senatorial election held last year.
With the latest rulings, PDP no longer has any senator from Anambra state.
Report has it that the new senators for Anambra in the Senate are now Chris Ubah (Anambra South), John Emeka (Anambra North) and Annie Okonkwo (Anambra Central).
Oduah was a former aviation minister while Mr Uba was a former special adviser to former president, Olusegun Obasanjo on Domestic Affairs.
On December 7, the Court of Appeal in Enugu nullified the election of Uche Ekwunife, as the senator representing Anambra central senatorial district and ordered a fresh election within 90 days.
After her sack, Ekwunife defected to the All Progressives Congress.
