The National President, Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agent (ANLCA), Olayiwola Shittu, said the association would partner with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to eliminate smuggling.
Shittu stated this during the inauguration of an ultra-modern office complex of ANLCA, Seme Chapter, at Seme, Badagry in Lagos during the weekend.
Shittu stated this during the inauguration of an ultra-modern office complex of ANLCA, Seme Chapter, at Seme, Badagry in Lagos during the weekend.
``We are committed in helping to improve the economy of the country. We have partnered with the NCS in order to achieve this.
``Smuggling is dangerous to the economy. Nigerians should learn to embrace legitimate trade in order to improve the economy,’’ he said.
The ANLCA president urged customs agents to desist from illegal activities and to always strive to make the association better.
``The inauguration of this ultra-modern office complex shows that the association is going in the right direction and this should pave way for other things to come.
``With the building of this office, agents would be able to discharge their duties in a more conducive environment and this would affect their output positively.
``Also, customs agents must always follow the code of conduct and must always adhere to the rules and regulations that guide our conduct. `
`This means that agents should not engage in illegal activities which could dent the image of our association.
``We must always conduct ourselves in an orderly manner because we always represent the association anywhere we go,’’ Shittu said.
Earlier, the Chairman, ANLCA, Seme Chapter, Mr Patrick Ozobialu, said the complex was built in order to give the association a befitting image.
``I am glad that this complex was built during my tenure and I hope greater things would be done after my tenure.
``We are concerned about the welfare of our members. I thank my members for their cooperation because without them, this achievement would not be a reality,’’
