Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has relieved the State Accountant General, Danjuma Adamu, of his duties with immediate effect.
Mr. Adamu has been accused of spying on all financial incomes of the State government and passing on this information to the former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who currently serves as a senator.
He was also accused of sabotaging all financial payments to the State government, a situation which caused the delay in salary payments to the State civil servants.
In a press statement signed by the Commissioner for Information,  Mallam Muhammad Garba, and made available to SaharaReporters on Sunday evening revealed that Mr. Adamu is to hand over the position to the Director of the Treasury in the Ministry of Finance, Ibrahim A. M. Kura, being the most senior.
Mr. Ganduje thanked the outgoing Accountant General for the services he rendered to the State and wished him God's guidance in his future endeavors.
Our correspondent recalled that the State House of Assembly in May 2016 passed a resolution calling on the governor to sack the Accountant General.
