There are some minor fixes you can carry out on your computer before rushing off to call the engineer.  According to http://pcsupport.about.com, knowing about  the following simple things you can do when there is a minor  problem with your computer will save you a lot of money on repairs;

  1. Restart your computer

Computers sometimes encounter very temporary issues that can be resolved with a restart which clears memory and reruns processes.

Restart your computer at least one time before calling the engineer. The problem, assuming it’s of a certain nature, might simply go away. If restarting is not possible, switch off the computer and later switch it on.

  1. Clear your browser’s cache

Clearing cache won’t fix every broken website or Internet-related problem but it is often helpful.  Every browser has a straightforward method for clearing cache.

If you have any sort of Internet-related issue, especially if it’s impacting only certain pages, be sure to clear the cache before taking your computer in for servicing.

On the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options. …

On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button.

When the dialogue box opens, click OK to clear the cache.

  1. Scan for viruses and other malware

Oftentimes, virus-caused problems appear as general computer sluggishness, random error messages, frozen windows and others. Before you take your computer for servicing, run a full malware scan using a good antivirus.

  1. Reinstall the programme that’s causing trouble

A lot of computer problems are software-specific, meaning that they only happen when starting, using, or stopping a particular programme that’s installed.

These sorts of problems can make it seem like your whole computer is falling apart, especially if you use the offending programme  a lot, but the solution is often very simple: reinstall the programme.

Reinstalling a programme means to uninstall it, and then install it again from scratch. If you think the problem you’re experiencing is software-specific, gather up the original installation disc or download the programme again, and then reinstall it.

  1. Delete your browser’s cookies

There aren’t real cookies in your computer but there are tiny files called cookies which are sometimes the cause of problems browsing the web. Like the cached files, the browser stores these files to make surfing the web easier.

If you’re having problems logging in to one or more websites, or you see a lot of error messages when browsing that other people don’t seem to see, be sure to clear your browser’s cookies before you pay for computer repair.

To delete the cookies, Click the menu button , choose History, and then Clear Recent History.

Set time range to clear everything.

Click on the arrow next to Details to expand the list of history items.

Select Cookies and make sure that other items you want to keep are not selected.

My Samsung Galaxy Prime phone cannot recognise memory cards – 234805***55

Put the SD card into your laptop using a card reader. If it fails to show in your laptop, it means it is either corrupt or damaged. If it shows, that means your phone may not have been enabled for SD card or that particular SD card. Please consult a software engineer for solution

I am unable to open my email. I opened it when I was abroad and I have lost access to the alternative email. Please how can I get it back? – 2349032***31

You did not specify the type of email account. Please text back with this information.

I downloaded some applications through Xender onto my new HTCv6 phone, switched off the phone and removed the battery.   When I fixed the battery back, the phone did not boot up, but if someone calls, it will ring and I will receive. What can I do?

It is most likely that your HTCv6 has a faulty screen. Since you just bought it, please take it back to where you bought it from as it is likely to still be under warranty.

My HTC Wildlife keeps displaying “authentication error” whenever I want to download app from the Play Store. What should I do? – 23481025***23

The error may simply be a sign-in issue, which sometimes occurs when the Play Store is updated.  Go to Settings > Accounts and simply remove the Google account you have registered (the one that’s getting the “authentication is required” message). Once you’ve done this, you can re-add the account and it should work just fine.  See more on:  https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-fix-google-play-authentication-is-required-error.
