ABBA MORO

Former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, is currently in custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) . He is being quizzed  over his alleged role in the immigration recruitment tragedy, which led to the death of about 20 young graduates.

A source from the anti-graft agency revealed  that Mr Moro will soon be arraigned in a court of competent jurisdiction as soon as it finalizes its investigation. It would be recalled that in 2014, the immigration service under the watch of Mr. Moro had organized a recruitment exercise nationwide on the same day and due to the massive crowd, officials of the immigration service were unable to effectively control the crowd which led to the death of 20 young Nigerians in what could be considered the most despicable day in our labour market.

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan had ordered an investigation into incident but reports are yet to be made public. The Buhari administration has promised the deceased families that they would be considered in the next Immigration recruitment exercise; we do hope this promise is kept.

As we are an empowerment site, we do hope that the necessary opportunities are put in place to spur young Nigerians to live very productive and effectual lives.
