Bruce Arena explains to Ed Malyon why he's sure moving to MLS after a lifetime at Anfield is going to revitalise star who arrives in California this weekend
You'll never WALTZ alone: Gerrard is 35 but hasn't had his last dance says Arena
LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena insists new arrival Steven Gerrard has “not had his last dance” as a player - but also warned the former Liverpool great he will not be able to waltz into Major League Soccer.
The veteran coach spoke of his excitement at this summer's move, which he believes will be “a breath of fresh air” for midfielder Gerrard, who decided to leave his boyhood club after becoming a back-up choice for manager Brendan Rodgers.
The 35-year-old and his family are due to land at LAX Airport this weekend to start their new life in California. And while critics point to the significant salary and the midfielder’s age in doubting the move, Arena thinks the world may see a revitalised player.
“I think having played his entire career at Liverpool and living in England his entire life, this will be a breath of fresh air for him," said Arena.
