Blind refuses to resign after Netherlands left on brink of Euro 2016 qualification failure

Danny Blind insists he will not resign as Netherlands coach after a 3-0 loss to Turkey dealt another blow to his side’s hopes of reaching Euro 2016.

The defeat in Konya has left Blind's men fourth in Group A with just two games remaining, while Czech Republic’s win over Latvia on Sunday means Netherlands' only hope of reaching next summer’s finals is to pip Turkey to a spot in the third-place play-offs.

Blind replaced Guus Hiddink as Netherlands coach at the start of July but the 54-year-old has overseen defeats to Group A leaders Iceland and now Turkey, who are two points clear in third place.

When asked if he is planning to resign, Blind replied: ”That thought does not go through my head.

“We made mistakes at the wrong times in the early stages. We had chances, even more than Turkey.
