Bailly: I rejected City for United
Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has revealed Jose Mourinho was the reason he decided to join the Red Devils. The centre-half was linked with United’s local rivals Man City but insists he never had any contact with Pep Guardiola, instead being called by one of the Spaniard’s assistants.
Bailly told The Sun: “I signed for United because I like Mourinho, as simple as that. I wanted to play for someone who works very hard. I didn’t speak to Pep Guardiola but the ‘second’ manager called me and Mourinho called me as well.
“He said come and play for me. I prefer Mourinho, in part because of Didier Drogba, who Mourinho worked with. I have played with Didier in the Ivory Coast, he is a friend and he told me, ‘Jose did this for me, Jose did that for me’.

He added: “When we realised there was a possibility that we could miss out on signing him due to other clubs’ interest, we had to move fast.
“President Clemens Tonnies happily made his plane available. We flew out to Montpellier at 1300 CET and returned five hours later. We had wrapped up the deal in that short period.”

“There were also rumours about (Manchester City defender) Aleksandar Kolarov but he wasn’t in my plans,” Gunes said on Saturday.
“Balotelli isn’t in my plans either. I don’t have a favourable view of Mario Balotelli. I have never expressed a positive insight on him.”

"Amateur" Premier League clubs charged DOUBLE by Europeans
The Premier League is awash with money – and clubs with players to sell have been trying to get their hands on some of that cash by hiking up their prices. With the staggering new £5billion TV deal kicking in this season, top-flight clubs have never been richer.
They are in an even stronger position to attract players, offer better contracts and retain their biggest stars.
The downside of their increased wealth is what many experts familiar with the workings of the transfer market feel is happening when they try to buy.
“There is now one price for English Premier League clubs and another price for everybody else,” one agent said.
It is common knowledge our teams have money to burn and clubs abroad have been
particularly keen to take advantage. Some sides in France simply call it an ‘English tax’.

“It is important that he understands that he should stay with us. He has to improve his fitness and play for the team as well as last season.”

He has been invited to find a new club, although United now face the tough task of finding a buyer for one of their top earners.

Adnan Januzaj, Andreas Pereira and Paddy McNair were also left out of the squad that travelled to Sweden on Saturday and have been told they can leave on loan.

“Wilf is a massive part of what we’re trying to do and he’s happy here. We brought him back from Manchester United so we certainly don’t want to lose him.”
