According to PUNCH, Kayode finally spoke up yesterday through a close family friend and addressed the cheating claims. From the reports, Ronke Shonde and Kayode’s late brother Jide were friends, and after Jide died in an auto accident in 2015, Kayode, who was working with a different company, was transferred from Ibadan to Lagos, where he met Ronke. They maintained a cordial relationship due to the late Jide, and through her influence, Kayode became close friends with Ronke’s uncle who owned the publishing firm and he was made the General Manager.
Also, Kayode explained why he sometimes travelled with Ronke, saying that they both are top managerial staff of the company and so go on trips together. Ronke was the Human Resource Manager. Their trip to Abuja where they held a recruitment exercise sparked the cheating claims. Kayode adds that he received messages from the late woman’s husband Lekan Shonde, harassing him with claims of cheating.

Meanwhile, the family of the late mother of two has released proof that their daughter was being abused by her husband. According to the snapshots of the messages shared between their family friend, Ashabi, Lekan Shonde admitted to physically abusing and cheating on his wife and also begged for forgiveness.
He also denied having child outside wedlock, claiming it was all a set-up.
See the excerpt of the messages:
Lekan: Am sick and tired. Am going crazy. Please help me out. I rest my case. Am crying as I am writing this to you. But help me to talk to her. Aburo mi (my younger sister), I don’t want to lose her. I want her in my house forever.
Lekan: Because of God, please help me. Ha, I have really offended her. May God forgive me. Please you are my saviour, help me talk to her.
Lekan: I can have plenty of sex outside, but I don’t want to fornicate again. Yes, just want my wife back. I swear to God, I will never touch her again.
Ronke’s friend: She is really broken and hurt, uncle. She said a lot. But I begged her and you have to keep showing her you are a better person, and you want your family back. It is not a day’s job uncle and you have to be patient with her and get her to trust and love you again. She is falling into depression which is more terrible.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the autopsy result will determine their next line of action.
“We are not in charge of the result and we can’t determine when it will be out. But I can assure you that we are on it and as soon as it is released, we won’t hide anything,” she said.
